The Xicheng event

XichengStorm has just concluded (it ran 8th - 11th November) and I wrote a Xicheng Guardian (TV) fusion! Starring Jiang Cheng as Zhao Yunlan, Lan Huan as Shen Wei, and Zewu-Jun as Heipaoshi.

Knowledge of Guardian is helpful but hopefully not essential to understanding the series! Also I canon diverge from Guardian in the last fic and can promise you a happy ending ♥

It seems improbable that Jiang Wanyin hasn't figured it out.

Jiang Cheng hadn't expected this-
The Hallows had activated, yanking him into a portal – and then literally dropped him ten thousand years in the past.

Lan Huan hadn't expected to be betrayed.

Jiang Cheng probably should have anticipated the assassination attempt. He'd spent the last three weeks in Lanling browbeating the more intractable elders into supporting Jin Ling before his nephew's first discussion conference, and he hadn't exactly been kind about it. Still, he was a cultivator-- if someone was going to try and kill him, he expected swords, or curses. Not poison in his tea.

Jin Ling was bawling by the time Jiang Cheng crossed the border between Yunmeng and Lanling. Jiang Cheng was halfway to doing the same, though it manifested mostly as a fierce scowl that made his face ache. It only got worse as the ridiculous excess that was Carp Tower came into view on the horizon.

"I remember wondering at the time how you'd managed to get so far ahead of me so quickly," he said, in a voice that he kept steady with a great effort of will. "You hadn't had anything to eat, and you were even more exhausted than I was-- but even though I ran as fast as I could, I couldn't catch up to you. Then I got to Lotus Pier, and you were there after all, so I just figured I'd missed you on the road somehow."

(It was fine, really. He'd told Jiang Cheng himself they should leave everything in the past. It was just that sometimes he couldn't stop himself from wanting to see Jiang Cheng anyways, and make sure he was doing well.)

xichengclipse is on this week and I've written a story for Day 1. The prompts were "Strangers" and "Ex-Lovers" and I couldn't stop thinking about how to go about incorporating both of them into one story - how two people could be both strangers and ex-lovers. I got into MDZS fandom back in 2017, and put up a few posts about it in 2018. I dug through the archives and I think you might enjoy the following:

Character list, with hanzi for all the names + weapons' names and the occasional humorous translation.
Birth years of novel characters compared to Wei Wuxian + some general timeframe notes.
The Jiang sect motto, various translations of the Confucius quote it is; comments also have some brief translation meta on the Lan sect motto.
Ranking of dads, worst to best, mostly for humor purposes.
Fansong recs, some of which might not have succumbed to link rot yet. (It's a megafandom, so the Chinese fandom has had time and inclination to make actual fansongs and record them plus place them on bilibili. Some even got subbed into English.)
