My fic so far!

Hi there, I'm new to this community! Looking forward to the upcoming MDZS read along! :D
Until then, I wanted to post links to my CQL fic here. It's the first fandom I've written some long-ish fics for, which was really quite daunting. XD It's mostly fluff - it seems that's the only thing I can really write! (*/ω\*) But it's been a difficult two years, so I need to write happy stuff.
All of these are complete.
Rumour Thwarting, Gusu Lan Style
WangXian, T, 4K One Shot, post-canon, humour, fluff. Based on a tumblr post.
The Gusu Lan Sect is really good at containing gossip and rumours.
Wei Wuxian has experienced this first hand: He witnessed Lan Qiren and the Lan elders talking favourably about him to visitors from other sects! It was a shock! But he really didn't think the Lan elders would go this far.
Hanguang-Jun's Flawless Taste in Men
WangXian, T, 6.5K One Shot, canon compliant, Junior ensemble, humour, fluff
"And," Ouyang Zizhen said, "just imagine what kind of maiden his love must've been like! She must've been truly exceptional! For Hanguang-Jun to never love another, to stay true even after her death." He sighed dreamily. "This is so romantic!"
Ouyang Zizhen was right: The person to catch Hanguang-Jun's heart must've been truly exceptional among their peers, a paragon of excellence, and beauty, and skill just like Hanguang-Jun himself.
Lan Yongxin wondered why he'd never heard of such an accomplished maiden. If the great Hanguang-Jun had loved her surely her name would've been known in the cultivation world?
But anyway, Hanguang-Jun was a flawless person, so his taste in matters of the heart must be exceptional as well.
~
The juniors worshipped the ground Hanguang-Jun walked on. He was perfect, his judgement flawless. So why did he make heart eyes at that crazy demonic cultivator they met on a night hunt? A man who was constantly whining, pouting, arguing with his donkey, standing much too close to Hanguang-Jun, permanently touching him, even daring to call him by his birth name?!
Five Serious Late Night Conversations & One Light-hearted Morning After
WangXian, T, 17.6K in 3 chapters, arranged marriage AU, strangers to lovers, domestic fluff, good communication
The wedding ceremony had been a bit of a blur.
If Wei Wuxian was honest with himself, the last few days, the last week – weeks? Month? - had been a bit of a blur. He was hard pressed to remember what he had actually done during that time. Definitely not talked to and gotten to know his fiancé, and not for lack of trying.
~
Wei Wuxian gets married to Lan Wangji to strengthen sect bonds. They make it work.
Sign Me Up for That Full-Time, I'm Yours
Wangxian, M, 19.4K in 5+1 chapters, modern AU, mutual pining, love confessions, fluff. Based on a tumblr post.
Wei Ying really loves the fanfiction of Hanguang-Jun; that writer is his absolute favourite and he looks forward to every update with bated breath.
He's ecstatic when he sees the new chapter update for Hanguang-Jun's latest epic, because this must be the chapter where the two leads will finally resolve their truly scorching UST!
Reading the chapter, though, Wei Ying can't help but have a sense of déjà vu. It is what he'd hoped for, but that scene also seems... familiar. As in, “This is almost exactly how my first hook-up with Lan Zhan went” familiar.
What. The. Fuck.
囍 Double Happiness
ChengQing, T, 12.4K in 2 chapters, arranged marriage AU, weddings, fluff, communication
With Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian happily married, it's now time for Jiang Cheng to find the perfect spouse. He's apprehensive but as the sect heir it's his duty to find a good wife. The process drags on, though, until one matchmaker suggests a candidate that hadn't been deemed eligible before: Wen Qing, the best doctor of the Qishan Wen.

Today I spent a ridiculously long time writing a post about the drama's character song album (and then spent another ridiculously long time wrangling it into some kind of order after correcting a typo. DW and long posts with loads of embedded stuff, would not recommend). The post is long and there's an excerpt of each song and I know I should've added a YT link there for those without Spotify but I'm not going to touch it anymore. Nope. (ETA: I removed all embedded songs and only left the album bc reasons.)
Anyhoo. Here is the post!
(Also, I wasn't sure what tags to use so I chose these. I didn't see a tag for music and references or meta doesn't quite apply, so...)

He had wanted Lan Wangji from the moment he had seen him—whether he had known it then or not—and the years of wanting him had settled deep in Wei Wuxian's bones, making him ache for something he dared not ask for. The things that Wei Wuxian desires—impure, base, wanton—he would never have, could never have voiced out loud, but Lan Wangji had seen them in him and pulled them out by the roots. He has died and returned in a body that is his own and yet not his own and nobody knows it like Lan Wangji does, its strengths and its weaknesses and the absolute gut wrenching pleasure that can be wrung out of it.
There are times—often—when he thinks that perhaps he has given too much of himself away to someone who knows and sees far, far too much, but he can't stop, either. Doesn't want to.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji discover talismans are good in all sorts of situations, actually.

Title: Long Story Short
Fandom: The Untamed
Song: Long Story Short by Taylor Swift
Summary:
And I fell from the pedestal
Right down the rabbit hole
Long story short, it was a bad time
Taylor Swift definitely watched The Untamed, just saying.
Warnings: Physical triggers (some fast cuts), canon-typical violence, character death.

Hi! I'm sorta new to the fandom and to this site so please bear with me while I try work out the formatting, eg tagging and hides. (still not sure if I'm doing the hides right but I'm trying). I'm a little confused with the timeline of the Untamed and could use some help with it. Below I will be mentioning some pretty big spoilers so be warned!
( Spoilers ahead but it's mostly me stressing about the timeline )

Yep. In this fandom for exactly two weeks and have already made my first vid. This is a love letter to Wei Wuxian, I'm not even going to pretend it's not.

a question

I've only within the last couple of months discovered The Untamed, and am (re)watching on Netflix. I've done some research online, and read meta by some other viewers and fans. I'm on my second rewatch, this time paying particular attention to relationships between the clans, and background relationships and negotiations between members of differing clans. Having background helps clarify some puzzling decisions and behaviors, and also reveals intensity and density of character and storylines I was unaware of on first watch. I'm at the point now when I've had a hard day and I just want pretty moving colors on my screen there are a few go-to episodes I can take out of context for just that sort of evening's entertainment. Or I can hew to the overarching series storyline and get dug in for the evening, watching behaviors and subtle exchanges to amplify my understanding of relationships. It's all delicious.
I do have a question. Netflix is suddenly glutted with pretty Chinese fantasy costume "period" series and movies, and more are available through other venues, as well. I've peeked a bit at one or two of them, and they have the same sort of glossy sheen, but underneath there doesn't appear to be a lot of substance. So my question is, how does one judge "quality" shows? I'm sure they exist. Or is The Untamed, or CQL, on its own plane, with the recent novel, the anime series, and so on sort of background that I'm assuming not every other fantasy series or show has.
That's a lot of assumption, and a lot of ignorance of the subject. So, any help and/or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

In Star Trek, TOS, there was a thing called The Spock Effect. Because Spock was expressionless, and was rumored to not experience emotion, the very few times he, by posture, body language, or facial expression did reveal an emotional reaction, viewers were almost shocked, and deeply affected. Viewers began to watch for those slips in his trained control, and to rejoice at a lip quiver, or an instant of a slight smile.
I think it's time to retitle The Spock Effect to The Lan Wangji Effect.
