Day 1: How you started watching.
I don't think I'm alone in saying that I may have gotten into it because of Guardian. :D A lot of mutual Guardian fans were already watching it but I wasn't actually interested even though I knew of the BL theme, because the demon-slaying genre isn't my favourite and I've never actually watched Chinese dramas with historical themes because I think -though I'm not sure- a lot of them are focused on politics or romance.
I'd heard of the donghua when it first came out and while it looked interesting,I thought,'hey, here's another animation taken from BL source but there probably will never be actual romance in it' *roll eyes here*. Again, the demon-related material wasn't doing anything for me.
For some reason YouTube started recommending crack videos and the episodes-probably because of Guardian-and I saw Xiao Zhan's face-*ahem*-I thought,'huh, let's check one episode'. The first episode was a bit confusing after the starting with WWX's death scene and I was already worried that it would be a sad-ending story after 50 eps but somehow I found myself watching 3 episodes in one go.
I took a break after that but then once I got over my Guardian obsession, I made some icons of The Untamed and that's when I needed a new focus(obsession, lol),I decided to go down the rabbit hole and I regret nothing! XD.
Some screencaps that attracted me from the get go:

& that one video. I hadn't yet watched the show at this point but I watched the video anyway:

Date: 2020-03-09 02:24 pm (UTC)I kind of managed to get into it despite Guardian, being generally of a mono-fannish bent, but it would be true to that friends who share a number of fandoms, including Guardian, with me got me into this.
You're 'over it'? That is sad?
I love the screencap of BAMF Lan Wangji with his guqin. So dramatic!
